Establish the data management system of communication products based on pro/interlink

Abstract: the author puts forward the bottleneck in the product data management of the company, analyzes the architecture and advantages of using pro/interlink to establish the product data management system, introduces the specific implementation method of Pro/interlink in the company, and finally summarizes the purpose achieved by the system

1 background

with the annual increase of new product development tasks, drawing and document management has increasingly become the bottleneck to be solved by the company's current enterprise process platform, which has seriously hindered the application and popularization of pro/engineer. The main problems are as follows:

(1) lack of information management of product design process

(2) lack of centralized management of drawings and files

(3) it is inconvenient to query drawings and files

(4) it is impossible to ensure that the searched drawings are the latest version, and it is difficult to ensure the consistency between electronic drawings and traditional paper drawings

(5) the security and confidentiality of drawings and files are not guaranteed

(6) there is an information island between design process management, and data resources cannot be shared

(7) product development cannot realize concurrent engineering, and the production efficiency is extremely low

based on the above problems, the company launched the database product management software system pro/intralink, which provides a complete solution to the above problems. The system can comprehensively manage the data files, and ensure the sharing of product data resources, safety and reliability, as well as convenient and fast use

2 pro/interlink architecture and advantages

2.1 pro/interlink architecture

pro/interlink client/server architecture is composed of commonspace/server and workspace/client. The user realizes the data transmission between the workspace database and the commonspace database through the check in/check out operation. The central database date server manages table data, namely metadata metadata, such as user list authorization, object name, relationship, object storage location, and all customer requests and application information files; Server fileserver manages engineering data such as graphics generated by pro/engineer. Users access the required data through pro/interlink client, the management of product data will be more scientific, and the access of product data will be more efficient and fast. The architecture diagram is shown in Figure 1

2.2 advantages of pro/intralink

in the NT environment, the simplest way to realize CAD integration is file sharing, that is, by mapping network drives, mapping a common drive letter to each login workstation, and through the authority management of NT and setting search_ Path establishes a product database (including standard parts library, general parts library, etc.) to realize the sharing of design data. Using pro/interlink as the product data integration platform has incomparable advantages over file sharing integration. Pro/interlink is the main working group management tool of pro/engineer for product development. It allows users to promote the collaboration of design teams and manage the powerful correlation functions of pro/engineer. It provides a dynamic collaborative environment that can support pro/engineer's fast and effective design methods. Pro/interlink can manage the relationship between pro/engineer products from concept to design, manufacturing and other stages, and truly integrate data management into the design process

(1) high security, reliability and simplified data sharing storage management. Pro/interlink realizes data exchange and storage through worksp2017 ace and commonspace. Workspace is usually set on the machine, which can be vividly compared to the designer's workbench. Commonspace is jointly managed by date server and file server. It is the core of data storage, which can ensure the uniqueness of files in the database, and can also find qualified files in the database according to various rules, which cannot be achieved in the file sharing mode. As shown in Figure 2

pro/interlink can simplify engineers' data management work to improve their work efficiency. It provides a powerful tool that can directly integrate information management work into the design process. Many jobs that need to be completed in pro/engineer can be completed faster and more effectively with pro/interlink, For example, pro/interlink can easily copy and rename existing designs and update graphics and other related products

(2) automatic association of pro/engineer and association of non pro/engineer files. In inralink, all pro/engineer data have logical relationships. For example, when calling assembly, all subassemblies and parts with logical relationships and their corresponding drawings will be automatically selected. No matter where the file is, it can be searched. In addition to the automatic association of pro/engineer, you can also manually set the correlation between non pro/engineer files (such as Acad, office files) and pro/engineer files, such as design change notice, change design application form, etc., which can establish a relationship with pro/engineer files

(3) concurrent design environment. Pro/interlink provides a concurrent design environment for designers. In this environment, the framework, final assembly and parts can be designed at the same time for mutual reference. Users can get the latest design information at any time. As shown in Figure 3. Practice has proved that concurrent engineering can be implemented only when the design process is well planned and the designers are well coordinated. Pro/interlink focuses on design changes, which enables different members of the design team to carry out relevant product design work at the same time, and directly update outdated information in the pro/engineer task. Using pro/intralink to manage the changes made to each component of the product, engineers can study and understand the impact of design changes on their work. The collaborative environment of pro/intralink is based on authorization control. It provides some management tools to control when changes are allowed and which users can be authorized to change the design. Administrators can customize these control tools to flexibly define the role of each tool in the development process. The role of these controls enables engineers to avoid design conflicts at the early stage of the product development process, thereby reducing the number of subsequent errors and engineering changes. Pro/interlink shortens the development process by allowing engineers to work in parallel, saving a lot of time and cost

(4) store pro/engineer information in one place for resource sharing. Pro/intralink provides a central database called public area, which is based on the Oracle relational database contained in pro/intralink. As a storage point of design work, public area records the repeated modification of design, product relationship and configuration information. In addition, it can also transfer the design work related to other users in order to provide all users with the latest design information

(5) provides powerful search and reporting tools. Pro/interlink provides a powerful and flexible search tool for finding information about pro/engineer design and determining existing designs that need to be reused or modified. Engineers can use pre-determined user and system level search to quickly find information, and they can also complete the search according to system or user-defined attributes. In addition, pro/interlink also includes some powerful report writing tools, Engineers can view design changes in object history and version reports, and can also use reports such as object information bill of materials and where to use to determine the impact of design changes on other products

3 pro/intralink implementation application

at present, the company's communication enterprise application pro/intralink mainly carries out the electronic warehouse management of project technical data and documents, mainly from the following aspects

3.1 establish the basic structure of the database directory tree

in order to facilitate management, we have established a file cabinet filevault in the server to manage the engineering data of communication products such as graphics. In the filing cabinet, the database directory tree in the form of folders is established with the product as the main line and the project system as the principle, as shown in Figure 4_ Data folder, and at the same time, auxiliary folders are established, such as library, standard parts stand module quick library, format standard template, etc. After entering the Intralink system, you can learn about the establishment of the system directory tree in administration and commonspace. The following is an example in the administration interface

(1) Click administration>system>folders>root folder, and the folder interface under the root folder of the root directory expands, as shown in Figure 4

4) 0_ Proe_ Q&A。 It is mainly used to store relevant empirical documents and FAQs generated during the use of pro/engineer tools

5) 0_ Standard。 It is mainly used to store various design standards, document specifications and other documents of the company

6) Product_ Data。 It is mainly used to store the structural design data of all products of the company

3.2 define object type

in pro/interlink, the system mainly defines all file types of pro/engineer, and defines object file extensions, description execution commands and preview commands. Object types that are not available in the system can be defined separately, that is, the encapsulation of application software, such as the encapsulation of autocad14 and word, and the management of the two documents

3.3 define object attributes

the following variables are defined under object attributes: pcode product drawing number, pname product name, PMAT product material, pqty product quantity, drawing by product designer. With these attribute values, we can quickly find the image file and related information

3.4 establish user account

the system administrator can establish different project management users and general users, and assign different passwords to different users. Now we have set up
